PONDA: Chairman of Sugarcane Farmers Facilitation Committee Adv Narendra Savoikar on Friday informed that Chief Minister Pramod Sawant sticking to his promise, the government has started releasing Rs 600 per tonne to the sugarcane farmers, which was due to them.
By Monday all the farmers will be covered and the process for compensation will start by next week.
He thanked the Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister Chandrakant Babu Kavlekar for their initiatives and support to the farmers.
He said, “This effort would definitely help to restart Sanjivani Sugar Factory and also will encourage the sugarcane growers.”
Meanwhile, in a press release, the Deputy Chief Minister informed that Rs 1.5823 crore for 800 farmers sanctioned is deposited in the Sanjivani Sugar Factory account as promised to the farmers by the government.
He also said, “Balance amount would be disbursed on Saturday. Rs 64 lakh disbursed to the 315 farmers. For unharvested sugarcane Rs 3,600 per metric tonne was paid earliest for the 86 farmers and total Rs 80.17 lakh are to be paid.”
He also said that the government is working to make the sugar factory functional as soon as possible.
