PANJIM: Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar launched the ‘competition for Goa’s young innovator’s award’ that invites participation from students from Class V to Class X. The competition, divided into two categories for students from Class V to VII and Class VIII to Class X, has kept options open for the schools to submit as many projects as they wish.
In the four-page brochure unveiled at his Dona Paula residence in the presence of Goa State Innovative Council (GSIC) Chairman Jose Manuel Noronha, Parrikar states, “I encourage all students from the State of Goa to actively participate in this competition so that the spirit of creativity and innovations are promoted amongst our children.”
On the kind of submissions, GSIC states that children are encouraged to come up with creative ideas on their own, and that parents and teachers may propose a problem to the child to identify a possible solution and then help converting the idea into prototype/model. The teachers are to ensure that the submissions are original so as to maintain the competition’s high standard.
The cash award in each category is announced at Rs 20,000, Rs 10,000 and Rs 5,000 for first, second and third winners respectively.
