PANJIM: Politicians are known to speak from the podium, but few are known to act in a music video. Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant, Leader of the Opposition Digambar Kamat and Waste Management Minister Michael Lobo have crossed the fence from speaking to performing as they have appeared in a music video on keeping Goa clean.
The three politicians have teamed up with students for a song highlighting the importance of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan initiative. The song has gone viral on social media.
Written and composed by Prakash Desai, assistant professor of Goa College of Music in memory of former Goa Governor Mridula Sinha, who was a Brand Ambassador of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan and also the Chancellor of Goa University, the song creates awareness about the importance of cleanliness.
School students are seen undertaking cleanliness and keeping their surrounding clean. The video is produced by Goa University in collaboration with the Goa College of Music.
The six-minute song was shot at Sankhali, Keri-Sattari, Saligao plateau and Margao. A drone was also used during the shoot, Desai told Herald.
According to Desai, the shoot was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic and was completed just recently.
The song is sung in three languages – Konkani, Hindi and Marathi, Desai said, adding that it makes it difficult for one to believe so. It is sung by Prasad Kambli, Dattaraj Chari, Pradnya Rawool and Aishwarya Gaonkar.
The script has been written by Dr Prakash Paryekar, head of department of Konkani, Goa University.
Besides, the three politicians, Goa University Vice Chancellor Prof Varun Sahni and interim Registrar Dr Radhika Naik are also seen singing along with students.
