CM must follow First Citizen’s advice on nature, scrap 3 linear projects: Cong

Congratulating the new President of India Droupadi Murmu, Cuncolim MLA Yuri Alemao appealed to her to take steps to protect the environment, forest, and wildlife of India

MARGAO: Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant must follow the advice of President of India Draupadi Murmu who emphasised respecting nature and protecting the environment, and should scrap the three linear projects immediately, demanded Congress Working President and Cuncolim MLA Yuri Alemao.

“I was touched by the words of the new President of India who in her first speech as President of India emphasised respecting nature and protecting forest and environment. The Chief Minister has attended her oath-taking ceremony.”

Congratulating the new President of India Droupadi Murmu, he appealed to her to take steps to protect the environment, forest, and wildlife of India which is now getting destroyed as lands are being handed over to crony capitalists for setting up destructive projects.

Yuri said, “The President of India is a motherly figure to Goa. She has remained connected with nature. Goa is known for its natural beauty. The Goa government must listen to her wise advice.”

“In her speech, the President of India said that for thousands of years, her tribe has lived in harmony with nature. She has realised the importance of forests and water bodies in her life. Taking resources from nature and serving it with equal reverence are mutually beneficial,” Yuri pointed out.

“It is high time that the State government follows her speech in ‘Letter and Spirit’ and take proactive steps to stop the destruction,” he added.
