PANJIM: A day after the Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant blamed the Directorate of Municipal Administration for municipal ward reservation fiasco, the Congress Party on Saturday demanded that the CM should immediately sack Minister for Urban Development Milind Naik holding him accountable for all illegalities in the election process.
Goa Pradesh Congress Committee President Girish Chodankar said that with Chief Minister admitting that municipality election reservation mistakes were done by DMA, has proved that he is defective leader and failed administrator.
Chodankar said that subsequent to the Supreme Court’s order to start the election process again, the Chief Minister has started blame games to escape himself from the embarrassment.
“Now he is trying to show that he has no knowledge of what DMA had done. If this is the case then he should first sack Urban Development Minister Milind Naik. What stops him from doing this,” Chodankar questioned.
The GPCC chief was speaking while welcoming former Nationalist Congress Party Minority Cell Chairman Nazir Khan from Vasco into the party fold.
According to Chodankar, when the Chief Minister blames DMA, he is directly blaming Urban Development Minister.
Chodankar urged the government officials not to fall prey to pressure tactics of BJP, as when it stands exposed officials are made scapegoats. He also said that Law Secretary and State Election Commissioner Choka Ram Garg is unfit to call as an IAS officer.
“We will write about Garg’s illegalities and his manipulative role in Constitutional violations to Union Home Ministry,” Chodankar said.
He said the Congress Party on Saturday said that with the growing support of people of Goa they will easily get majority with 23-26 seats in the 2022 Assembly elections.
