PANJIM: There is need to change mindset of prisoners in Colvale central jail as they are often fighting on petty issues, said Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Friday.
Speaking to mediapersons after inspecting the Peddem grounds at Mapusa, Sawant said that fights between the inmates of the Colvale jail shows that their mindset has to change.
On Wednesday night, three inmates were injured following clashes in the Central Jail, Colvale over distribution of food.
Though the incident was not been reported to the police, the three inmates were taken to the hospital and discharged after treatment.
There have been frequent fights between the inmates in the central jail. Even jail staff was attacked by the prisoners while two inmates were killed. In the past notorious gangster and history sheeter was killed in the jail by a fellow inmate Vinayak Karbotkar, who was also killed in the jail.
