PANJIM: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Thursday said that the Mhadei water dispute is on for last 30 years and is not a dispute that can be solved in a jiffy with one visit to New Delhi.
When asked about the tentative timeline for the Centre to act on Goa’s demand to stop Karnataka from diverting Mhadei water, Sawant said, “This is not an issue where timeline can be specified off-hand. Technically, politically and legally also we are going to continue with the fight all through our tenure and I am confident that no injustice will be meted out to Goa. We are confident that we will win this battle.”
He said that he is aware of the impending catastrophe on Goa if the Mhadei water is diverted.
