PANJIM: Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar Sunday passed the buck on the legality of allowing fifth casino in River Mandovi, to the Captain of Ports.
When asked by reporters whether anchoring of the new casino vessel in River Mandovi is illegal, he said if it is illegal, then, the Captain of Port should question the company’s management that is operating the vessel.
He was unable to answer whether the government had issued the NOC.
On Thursday, following warnings from the villagers and a group of legislators that anchoring of the vessel in River Mandovi would lead to law and order situation, the government had decided to move the new casino vessel further upstream opposite to the Salim Ali bird sanctuary.
Goa government had granted a licence to Delta Corp’s wholly owned subsidiary – Delta Pleasure Cruise Company – to operate its vessel ‘M V Royale Flotel – Deltin Caravela’ in Mandovi River.
