Orders fast tracking of work related to Goa Staff Selection Commission

PANJIM: Prohibiting contractual recruitments in government departments, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Thursday ordered fast tracking of work related to Goa Staff Selection Commission to ensure that advertisements for new posts are issued latest by first week of January, 2020.  
Sawant on Thursday chaired a meeting with officials of Personnel department led by Secretary Harish Adconkar. At the meeting, the chief minister sought for details of employees working on contract for more than 10 years and also those, who were appointed as part-time and now working as full-time employees. 
According to an official press statement, the chief minister directed fast tracking of work related to Goa Staff Selection Commission to ensure that advertisements for fresh recruitments are issued at least by the first week of January.
The three-member Goa Staff Selection Commission, headed by Puneet Goel, IAS, is the sole authority to decide on the recruitments in the government departments. Following setting up of the Commission, nearly 1200 advertisements, issued by various departments, were withdrawn pending clearance from the commission. 
Further, Dr Sawant has directed the Personnel Department to seek details from all departments of employees who have been working on contract basis for more than 10 years including those who were dismissed because their contract has expired. 
Chief Minister also asked for a record of employees who have been recruited and paid as part-time employees but have been working full-time. 
“The Chief Minister also directed Department of Personnel to issue a circular banning employing of employees such as Data Entry Operators through ITG (Info Tech Corporation of Goa Ltd) or Goa Electronics Limited (GEL) or any such agencies,” I&P said. 
“CM has directed them to issue circular banning all further fresh contract recruitments,” it added.
Government said that directions are also been issued to PWD, Electricity, WRD, Forest and any such Departments who are engaging labourers by floating tenders.
