Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant has promised that action will be taken against all illegal quarries in Pernem taluka. Hefty fines have already been imposed on illegal quarry operators. Pernem MLA Jit Arolkar stated during Zero hour that notices had been sent to only 30 persons while no notices were sent to the rest. Five boys had died while swimming in such pits. The Chief Minister said all those operating quarries legally were directed to put fences and erect no swimming sign board near legal quarries
