CM promises education complexes in other towns

Felicitates nine teachers with State Awards; urges them to inculcate values among students

PANJIM: Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar on Wednesday said the Cujira educational infrastructure pattern will be a model to be followed in other towns and that the government is planning to follow the same pattern in Margao, Ponda and Vasco. He said land has been acquired for an educational complex in Margao.
“Since schools in the Panjim are shifted to Cujira School Complex at Bambolim, similarly Margao and Ponda will also have educational institutions outside the towns soon. In every five-year term, two school complexes will be built in a phased manner,” Parsekar said, speaking at the Teacher’s Day function in Panjim.
The CM also felicitated nine teachers with state awards and urged teachers to strive hard to inculcate values among students for family building, cleanliness and traffic management.
The teachers felicitated were Kashi Sablo Naik, Surekha Naik, Balchandra Damodar Bhave, Vivek Dayanand Bodke and Umar Farooque Goundi. In the Headmasters category, Dadu Pandurang Parab, Fr Domnic Savio Fernandes, and in Grade -1 category Sumedha Kamat Dessai, and in the Principal category Ramchandra Mukund Barve, were felicitated with State awards.
Stating that road accidents are on the rise, he said teachers can play an important role to spread sense of traffic discipline among students. Parsekar also expressed concern on the rising ratio of divorce, stating that degradation of family values could be one reason leading to failed marriages and sought that teachers propagate importance of family emotions in social set up.
