MARGAO: Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant on Tuesday said that the private sector in the field of hospitality and tourism should focus on attracting the tourist stating that joint ventures between private sector and government can lead to better development.
He also assured that the government will provide the entire required infrastructure with regard to hospitality and tourism in Goa.
“We will provide the entire required infrastructure in the field of hospitality and tourism but the private sector engaged in the field should try hard to attract the tourists by providing good and excellent facilities,” said Sawant while addressing the gathering at the opening of Fairfield resort by Marriott Goa at Benaulim.
“Many projects are required in the State, and hence the private sector also needs to take steps forward,” he said.
CM said though the tourism sector had a major setback during the pandemic, many of the entrepreneurs showed good spirit by holding business activities and gave great support to the State.
Deputy Chief Minister Manohar Azgaonkar in his address said, “South Goa has not got the required boost as compared to the North with regard to tourism. Tourists are mostly seen in the North.”
