PANJIM: Panjim police are looking for a person who sent several threatening messages on the personal number of Chief Minister Pramod Sawant. The unknown accused has been demanding a ransom from the CM, failing which the former has threatened to harm the latter.
A complaint was filed at Panjim police station on November 5 soon after which an FIR was registered. The police team, sources said, have begun tracing the number and the identity and whereabouts of the miscreant.
Sources said that Sawant had started getting
threatening calls about two months ago. Since he ignored the calls, the miscreant/s began sending abusive and threatening text messages.
“The CM has been getting calls and messages to pay ransom of Rs 50 lakh. If he fails to do so, the unidentified accused has threatened to kill him and his family,” the source said.
The calls allegedly were being made from the UK and Gulf countries.
Incidentally, Goa Forward Party vice president Durgadas Kamat has also complained of receiving threatening messages from an international number. “Have been receiving threat messages seeking ransom from #InternationalNumber(.) Have formally lodged complaint with @DGP_Goa. Requesting @DGP_Goa to kindly investigate into it.” Kamat posted on his Twitter handle.
