PANJIM: Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant reiterated that the State Government is working tirelessly towards betterment of the youth.
He was speaking at the inaugural ceremony of National Youth Parliament (NYP) on Wednesday at the Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Stadium, Taleigao.
Sawant listed out the various schemes the State government has initiated to compliment overall growth and development of youth in the State.
“The Government is focusing on the upgradation of technical education. Government has started various youth oriented courses in schools and colleges providing them the much required hands-on training to provide them employment opportunities. It has also started coaching classes for students to get prepared for NEET Exam and IITs etc,” said Sawant.
“The Government is fully committed to upliftment of youths and has initiated various master courses at graduation and post graduation level and start up schemes for young entrepreneurs,” the CM added further.
Sawant also appealed to the youths to supplement the Government efforts towards social and economical development of the State.
The CM also felicitated young sportsmen, sportswomen and also young farmers for their achievement in sports and agriculture.
Speaking on the occasion, Deputy Chief Minister Manohar Ajgaonkar, who is also the Sports Minister, highlighted the various schemes initiated by the Department of Sports and Youth Affairs. He appreciated the efforts of organisers for organizing NYP on a national level and scale.
NYP is organised by Goa State Legislative and Government of Goa in association with MIT School of Government, Pune.
The Founder of MIT school of Government, Rahul Karad said that NYP is aimed to provide a platform for youth to express their thoughts on democracy and nation building and upliftment of the young generation.
Earlier in the day, the Speaker of the Goa Legislative Assembly, Rajesh Patnekar, welcomed the gathering.
At the function, a congratulatory motion was moved to congratulate Prime Minister Narendra Modi for presenting five agenda ‘Panchamrit’ to counter global warming and climate change at the recently-held COP-26 climate conference in Glasgow, Scotland.
The National Organising Secretary of Vignyan Bharati, Jayant Sahasrabuddhe also congratulated PM Modi for the ‘Panchamrit’ initiative on global warming.
Accomplished actor, Sharad Ponkshe, noted leader, Nupur Sharma, Member of Parliament Sunita Duggal were amongst those who were present on the occasion.
