PANJIM: Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar has rejected the appointments of family members of Water Resource Department Minister (WRD) Minister Vinod Palyekar as personal secretaries in his office.
Chief Minister has clarified that he had already rejected the appointment of the Anand Palyekar as private secretary of Minister and recently the appointment of Pundlik Palyekar as private secretary.
He said, “I have rejected both. The first name was rejected earlier and the second (Pundalik) Palyekar has also been rejected. Proper information was not given regarding his connection. We have taken note. These appointment recommendations stand cancelled”.
It may be recalled that despite a clear cut circular issued by the Chief Minister that no close relative can be appointed as secretaries or assistant to the ministers in his Cabinet, WRD Minister Palyekar attempted to appoint two of his family members in his office.
Minister has sought to appoint Anand Palyekar, the brother of the minister in his office as well as Pundalik Palyekar, his nephew as a private secretary in the office of minister for WRD.
