PANJIM: Extending his warm greetings to the people of Goa on the occasion of Liberation Day, Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant on Sunday remembered the efforts of the freedom fighters to liberate the State from repression of the Portuguese rule.

Speaking at the Liberation Day function at Campal-Parade ground in Panjim, Sawant said, “We all are fortunate that we are getting to experience the unprecedented 75 years of India’s Independence and 60 years of Goa’s Liberation.”

He said the world has experienced the eye catching leadership of honourable Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Under the esteemed leadership of PM, Goa has not only achieved 100 per cent vaccination in the fight against the dreaded coronavirus but has also come up as a financially reformed State in a tough time of country’s financial crisis.

“Goa is the first State to provide 100 per cent tap water connections in rural areas and also the first State to start 100 per cent computerised billing. In addition, my government announced a scheme “Save Water To Get Free Water”  wherein people of the State are enjoying free tap water supply of up to 16,000 litres per household”, he added.

On the occasion, the personnel from the Police and Home Department were felicitated with Chief Minister’s Police (Gold) Medal and CM’s Bravery Award for their meritorious service. The Fire and Emergency Services, Home Guards and civil defence organisation, Forest and General Administration Services along with personnel of Directorate of Agriculture, Bal Bhavan and Social Welfare were also felicitated.
