CM rules out remuneration for land owners

Says from the total land acquired, one third will be returned to comunidade & tenants

MAPUSA: Explaining the concept of Down Town Mapusa project,  Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar said around 11.63 lakh sq mts will be acquired under voluntary scheme and added that the land owners will not get any remuneration.
However, from the total land acquired, one third will be returned to the owners – comunidade and tenants and the remaining to NGPDA and for recreational facilities.
He was addressing a NGPDA meeting held to discuss the Down Town Mapusa and Camarkhazan & Gauswada projects with stakeholders and beneficiaries from Mapusa. 
He further informed that the project will include solid waste management plant, a sewerage treatment plant, underground cabling and 24 hours water and electricity supply for Mapusa. 
Speaking further Parrikar said, “The Down Town Mapusa and Camarkhazan & Gauswada projects have been planned in two phases. In these projects, the  development will be restricted unlike the private ones. Once the layouts are ready, the work on both these projects will start simultaneously.” 
NGPDA chairman Michael Lobo, Urban Development Minister Francis D’Souza and Mapusa Municipal Council (MMC) Councillors were present .
