CM Sawant foresees Assembly victory

Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant on Monday expressed his happiness over the performance of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-backed panels in the Corporation of the City of Panaji (CCP) and municipal council elections.

Speaking to the media at the party office, Sawant said, “Today we have won a good number of seats in the municipal elections the way we had won the Zilla Panchayat (ZP) elections in both North Goa and South Goa districts in December last year. I think definitely we will win the next Assembly elections.”

Congratulating Panjim MLA Atanasio (Babush) Monserrate, the Chief Minister said it was a signal by the people that the BJP candidate would win next Assembly elections in Panjim. “I congratulate Monserrate for securing 25 seats in the CCP elections. It is a signal by the people of our victory in Panjim Assembly constituency,’” he said.

Taking to twitter, Sawant said, “I am immensely grateful to the people of Goa for generously supporting Bharatiya Janata Party for the municipal elections 2021. I would also take this opportunity to congratulate our able candidates and the party karyakartas for the stupendous victory.”

Speaking further, Sawant also ruled out the possibility of curtailing the Budget session of the Assembly commencing on Wednesday in view of the model code of conduct to be announced for the elections to the other five municipal councils.

“Assembly session will not be curtailed. The budget would be presented before announcement of the model code of conduct for other municipal councils. I have checked it,” Sawant said.
