CM Sawant kickstarts rail overbridge, road widening projects for Margao

MARGAO: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant laid the foundation stone for two major projects in Margao- the construction of a six-lane Road Over Bridge (ROB) near the railway station at Rawanfond, and a second project involving the improvement and widening of the road from Khareband bridge to Rawanfond Circle via Daivadnya Bhavan and Power House Circle up to Apollo Victor Hospital, in phase 1.

Both initiatives will be undertaken by the Goa State Infrastructure Development Limited (GSIDC).

Addressing the gathering, Sawant revealed plans for two other ambitious projects for the Margao constituency, including a modern KTC bus stand and a new medical college for South Goa affiliated with the District Hospital. He assured that these endeavours would be completed within the next four years.

The estimated cost for the construction of the six-lane Rawanfond bridge stands at Rs 70 crore, while the beautification of roads will amount to Rs 14 crore. Sawant disclosed that he had already reached out to Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari, urging him to sanction central funds for the construction of a T-shaped flyover at the Comba railway crossing to alleviate traffic congestion.

Sawant expressed his gratitude to Kamat and assured that all the proposals put forth by the Margao MLA would be translated into developmental projects.
