Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant stated that Goa is the only state in the country to have seven types of waste treatment plants, which include solid waste management, sewerage treatment, bio-medical waste, chemical waste, construction waste, industrial waste and e-waste.
Stating that it is everyone’s responsibility to keep Goa clean, he requested people to not create garbage dumps in the villages for their personal benefit, as villages will be destroyed. He added that if people continue to dump waste in villages, in the next 10 years, Goa will see a decline in tourists. Sawant was speaking at the inauguration of the Stakeholder Engagement Workshop on Waste Management.
