CM says police team formed to trace Candolim murder accused

Informants have been activated, night patrolling has increased and tenant verification is being done, CM told the Goa Assembly on Tuesday

PORVORIM: The issue of the blatant murder of a senior citizen in Candolim made its way into the Goa Assembly in the form of a Calling Attention motion tabled by Calangute MLA Michael Lobo. He said it had evoked fear in the minds of the people of Candolim that such crimes are happening. That Arnaldo Soares, a 68 year old and an OCI card holder who was living at his residence for 10 years, was murdered, is shocking. He said this matter should be resolved and the culprit brought to book.

He informed the House that a police team had been formed to nab the accused. CM said, CCTV footage was being collected from all the relevant locations. The police informants had been activated, he stated.
Beat staff had been put on night patrolling and police were directed to develop public relations in cracking the murder, CM informed. He also said that naka bandi was being done in the jurisdiction of Calangute police station. Those who were roaming at night were being detained and questioned.
Additionally, the Pink Force was active and a watch was being kept on houses where senior citizens were residing. Also tenant verification was being done within the jurisdiction of Calangute Police, CM told Goa Assembly on Tuesday.
