PANJIM: Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar claimed that none of its ministers are involved in the sex scandals or prostitution rackets, even as he commented that many VVIPs would be landing in jail. But he refused to divulge their names.
“No minister from Goa cabinet is involved either in sex scams or prostitution rackets. If central ministers are involved, I am not aware of it,” Parrikar said this Tuesday, in response to Congress MLA Aleixo Reginaldo Lourenco, who raised apprehensions based on news reports that local ministers are allegedly involved in the flesh trade.
“In one case there was a rumour that politicians are involved. It may or may not be true but we have to ensure that it doesn’t happen,” Reginaldo told the House while participating in the discussion on demands for grants for Police and Fire and emergency Services.
Parrikar reiterated that no minister from Goa government is involved in it.
Meanwhile, Chief minister Manohar Parrikar Tuesday apologized to Goans for not being able to complete the construction work of Colvale jail, and stated that the jail would be ready by this year for sure.
“I am apologizing to Goans for failure to complete work of Colvale jail. I want to expedite the work,” Parrikar told the State Legislative Assembly. In the same breath, he commented that many of the VVIPs would be landing in the jail themselves. “I will be making it air conditioned for VIPs,” he said.
Parrikar stated that he would not disclose the names of these VIPs.
“But some people will definitely go to jail,” he said.
