CM seeks Centre’s help for safe return of Goans from Ukraine

PANJIM: As Russia launched military operation on Ukraine, the State government has raised concern over the safety of its people residing in the war-bound Ukraine. 

Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant has sought intervention of Union Minister for External Affairs Dr Subrahmanyam Jaishankar for safe return of Goans.

“We are concerned about the Goans in Ukraine who are considering returning to India in the light of ongoing Russia-Ukraine crisis,” Sawant tweeted. 

“I request Union Minister for External Affairs Dr Subrahmanyam Jaishankar to help in the safe return of Goans,” he tweeted further adding that he is keeping track of the situation. 

Earlier on Wednesday, Goa NRI Commissioner Adv Narendra Sawaikar had written to the Union Minister for help for safe return of Goans, who are looking for temporary return to the State till the situation normalised between the two countries. 

Several Goans in Ukraine are in touch with the NRI Commission as they are anxious to temporarily return till the situation normalises.
