Kamat said, “We need to protect ourselves first and others next so that everybody is safe from coronavirus pandemic.”

While saluting frontline workers who risk their lives to help others, he specially thanked the medical team that attended to the COVID-19 patients and thanked the Goans for the restraint they have showed during the 25-day lockdown period.

“The government will now have to take effective measures to revive the economy and business activities and also find solutions to the problems faced by daily wage workers and migrant labourers,” he added.

He also stressed on the need to secure the future of small businesses and professionals such as kiosk owners, motorcycle pilots, rickshaw drivers, mechanics, barbers, cobblers, laundry, flower vendors, bar and tavern owners and those involved in the tourism industry.

He also demanded a white paper on the financial condition of State and suggested that the government immediately announce austerity measures at all levels to curtail unwanted and wasteful expenditure.
