CM should either clarify on Gaude’s statement or quit, says Congress

PANJIM: The Opposition Congress party on Sunday stated that the statement of Sports Minister Govind Gaude against his own government has vindicated their stand that Scheduled Tribes (ST) communities were only used and fooled by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to get votes.

Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) vice president Sunil Kawthankar demanded that Chief Minister Pramod Sawant must clarify if the revolt by his Cabinet Minister was the first symptom of change or changing times. “If Sawant fails to clarify then he should resign,” said Kawthankar.

On Saturday, during the commemoration of Prerana Din at Ponda, Sports Minister Gaude had warned his own government for not settling the demands of ST communities and for using their only for votes during elections.

Gaude had said that several demands of ST communities were pending with the government and that the United Tribals Association Alliance (UTAA) needs to intensify its agitation to get these demanded

fulfilled.

The ST communities were further disappointed since the Chief Minister Pramod Sawant did not attend the programme.
