CM: State BJP chief to be announced by Jan 5 or 6

PANJIM: The appointment of president of Goa BJP has been delayed by nearly 20 days as the procedure is set to complete by January 5 or 6. The appointment and announcement of current BJP Tatar president Vinay Tendulkar’s successor is set to take place in the presence of central leadership. 
Addressing a press conference after the party meeting at BJP head office on Thursday, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said the booth elections in around 31 constituencies have so far been held. 
“We will announce the new president by January 5 or 6,” he informed reporters. 
The ruling party had earlier said a new president will be appointed by December 15. Earlier to this in June, the party spokesperson had said that the process will be completed in two to three months. 
Meanwhile, BJP national working president J P Nadda will address a public awareness rally on Citizenship Amendment Act at Azad Maidan on January 3. The meeting comes amidst protests and violence opposing the Act. 
Sawant who chaired the meeting of BJP state office bearers said the plan has been chalked out for the upcoming rally. Several thousand party workers will attend the rally that will also have the presence of locals.
