CM takes a dig at Oppn alliance attempts

Says parties forming alliances as it is impossible to defeat BJP in Goa

PANJIM: In the midst of various political parties looking for a tie up ahead of the 2022 Assembly elections, Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant took a dig at the opposition that is attempting to defeat the BJP.

“The opposition parties are hassled by BJP’s popularity and acceptance among the people, as a result of which they are forming an alliance in the hope of defeating the ruling party,” he said, addressing a meeting of BJP State presidents and key representatives from other States, under the Booth ‘Chalo Abhiyan’ held in the capital city on Wednesday.

Sawant appealed to the party karyakartas to create further awareness about BJP’s achievements and ensure BJP’s victory.

“The BJP has made all round development of Goa in the last ten years. No previous government has achieved this. The Centre led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi has also done as much for India’s development, which the country hadn’t achieved in the last over six decades,” Sawant said.

He emphasised that all the party workers should actively work for the next two months claiming that voters will not be attracted unless they know the works done by BJP.

“BJP governments at the Centre and the State have carried out development in the field of education, medical, social sector, infrastructure, etc,” Sawant said, reiterating that the opposition parties in Goa are trying to form an alliance because they know it is impossible to defeat the BJP in Goa.

Union Minister Dr Bhagwat Karad said that BJP is the only party for the people as well as its workers while the other parties run political families.

“It is only in BJP that a worker can grow into a great leader. Working for BJP is a service to the country, and this factor is missing in other political parties. We have many good leaders. Therefore, once again, we should try to form a BJP government and build a nation through it,” Karad said.

State BJP president Sadanand Shet Tanavade said every karyakarta needs to engage with the electorate to ensure BJP’s victory yet again. “BJP does not differentiate between caste, religion or other factors. BJP is the only party that takes everyone together irrespective of caste, creed, religion, etc,” he said.

The party further said that its victory is essential to inaugurate the Mopa international airport and Zuari Bridge.
