PORVORIM: Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar on Friday told the State Legislative Assembly that he is in talks with the Central government to curtail the jurisdiction of Mormugao Port Trust (MPT).
“I have taken up the matter with the Centre. I am in talks to reduce the MPT jurisdiction. I am working on that,” Parrikar said.
He was replying to concerns raised by BJP Vasco MLA Carlos Almeida, who brought to the notice of the House that MPT claims that their jurisdiction is from Zuari bridge to Betul and hence their consent is necessary while undertaking any activities in the area.
“MPT is issuing notices to locals, especially local fishing communities, for entering in their jurisdiction. They say that their permission is must,” he said.
