CM tells Home Guards to work with dedication

PANJIM, DEC 5 Greeting the Goa Home Guards and Civil Defence volunteers on the occasion of their 'Annual Raising Day' on December 6, Chief Minister Digambar Kamat sounded confident that the men and women in the Home Guards will continue to work with the same single minded dedication, zeal and enthusiasm that they have displayed so far.

Greeting the Goa Home Guards and Civil Defence volunteers on the occasion of their ‘Annual Raising Day’ on December 6, Chief Minister Digambar Kamat sounded confident that the men and women in the Home Guards will continue to work with the same single minded dedication, zeal and enthusiasm that they have displayed so far.
Kamat further extended felicitation and good wishes to all the officers and other ranks of the organisation and in his message said, “The Civil Defence and Home Guards organisation has contributed significantly in maintaining law and order in the State.”
Home Minister Ravi Naik said that the Home Guards and Civil Defence organisation has always upheld their motto of ‘selfless service’ with enthusiasm and zeal. “There is growing realisation in the government that the role of Civil Defence should become more prominent in time of natural calamities, inner strife and external aggression. I hope that meaningful steps will be taken in this direction in the near future,” Naik’s message adds.
Naik said that the Home Guards have made a mark for themselves in assisting the police in law enforcement and contributed with zeal in management of disasters. “It is heartening that the police authorities continue to depend heavily on them in the maintenance of public order,” Ravi informed and added that this organisation has risen admirably to the challenges in the past and urged them to continue contributing to various nation-building activities in future also.
President Pratibha Devisingh Patil, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Union Home Minister P Chidambaram have also send their greetings to the men and women in the Home Guards across the country.
To commemorate the ‘Annual Day’, a small function will be organised by the Home Guards Organisation-Goa at Police Headquarters on December 6, at 10 am.
