MARGAO: The officials of Agriculture Department will meet the Chief Minister to find a solution to the rising price of coconuts. The Agriculture Minister Vijai Sardesai has meanwhile said that the intervention to control prices is inevitable.
“By the end of the week the officials will meet the CM. Solutions include putting out tenders, source coconuts from producers or meet bhatkars of Goa, negotiate prices and buy from them, besides also buying from traders,” Vijai said.
I have been saying this before Diwali that intervention for price control is inevitable, he said, adding that by distributing coconuts the Congress is doing a good drama.
“Today we are being told that huge amount of coconut exports have happened to Russia and Germany because of the demand for winter and the need for cold creams and cosmetics products requirements,” he added.
The Agriculture Minister has also revealed that 12 schemes of agriculture will have to be done away with and more relevant schemes will be introduced soon.
