The pipeline, about 7.2 kms in length, will be laid to supply water from Sal River to Assonora water treatment plant and about 110 MLD water will be pumped through Sal River, which will be treated in Assonora. Speaker Rajndra Arlekar, WRD Minister Dayanand Mandrekar and local MLA Naresh Sawal will be present on the occasion.
The scheme was formulated by former chief minister Manohar Parrikar considering the constant erratic water supply by Tillari irrigation project, which was causing acute water shortage to Bardez taluka.
According to WRD officials, the new scheme will provide much relief in terms of drinking water for Bardez will be pumped through Sal River. This project of laying pipeline will be completed in one year.

It may be recalled that presently, Assonora water treatment plant receives around 110 MLD of raw water from Tillari. However, since the last few months supply has been stopped due to maintenance work of the cannels in Tillari area. Presently, water is being supplied through Sal River and Amthane dam to Assonora water treatment plant.
“The new pipeline will be of great help to Bardez to provide regular supply of water,” said Sal Sarpanch Ghanashyam Raut.
