PANJIM: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on September 19 will virtually interact with primary students and teachers on various aspects of education including implementation of National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and benefits of school amalgamation.
Addressing mediapersons on Thursday, Sawant said that he will virtually interact with primary school teachers, students and their parents on September 19.
“I along with education experts will speak on NEP 2020, which we have already implemented at foundation level in some primary school. Virtually, we will take the students to those schools and show how best practices are adopted to implement NEP,” he said.
The CM further said “In Surla village, we have implemented NEP and have also done merger of some government schools, which are running successfully. We will show this to teachers, students and parents. It is important that everyone is aware about the benefits of school merger.”
Sawant, who is also Minister for Education, reiterated that government is not shutting down any schools but the idea is to merge schools having fewer enrollments.
“As I have said before, we will take all the stakeholders into confidence. We are taking parents, teachers into confidence,” he said, appealing everyone not to oppose it just for the sake of opposition.
Meanwhile, after successful implementation of ‘Mulyavardhan’ module – the largest evidence-based value education programme at primary level, Goa government is all set to introduce the initiative for students of Classes V to VIII from this academic year.
Launched with the support of Shantilal Muttha Foundation, ‘Mulyavardhan’, is a unique effort to inculcate Constitutional values among school-going children through a constructivism and whole-school approach. Implemented since 2016, in Goa it has covered 757 government primary schools and 85 English medium convent schools, with over 20,000 students.
Sawant said that ‘Mulyavardhan’ will be implemented in Classes V to VIII from this year. He informed that ‘Mulyavardhan 3.0’ will be implemented as a platform integrated with State curriculum.
Sawant said that the initiative will help the students in higher studies in the long run.
