CM: Update skill and knowledge in fire safety

PANJIM: Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar on Saturday emphasized on the safety of humanity, which he felt should be the prime concern of all stakeholders in the construction industry.

The Chief Minister was speaking at the inaugural of the one-day seminar on ‘The science behind built environment fire safety’ organized by the Directorate of Fire and Emergency Services in association with UL Fire Safety Research Institute in Panjim.
Parsekar stressed on the importance of update of technical knowledge and skills and devices used in fire safety. “Safety of humanity should be the prime concern of all stakeholders of built environment,” he said. 
The chief minister said that more new research in the field of fire fighting technology needs to be conducted to help in strengthening infrastructure for fire safety. 
Vice President (UL) India, Venkatchalam, in his introductory remarks called for the need to know the science behind fire safety. He said that in the world of science and technology, where we have created a built environment, one has to be well prepared to save it. “We need to be ready to face any emergency that can occur at any time,” he said stressing the need to update knowledge, skill and equipment. 
Director of fire and Emergency Services Ashok Menon was present on the occasion. Representatives from industry, builders, engineers and the staff of Fire and Emergency Services attended the function.
