Addressing media persons a day after calling off the strike call given by the lifeguards, AITUC leader Suhas Naik said that the government has assured the lifeguards that it would fulfil their demands.
The Minutes of Agreement that were signed late Friday night between the lifeguards and government, say that the contractor shall not be allowed to victimize or target any single workman for participating in the present strike and that the present service conditions of all the workmen shall not be allowed to be changed adversely, AITUC said.
The two-day strike call given by 568 workers employed by Drishti Lifesaving Pvt Ltd was called-off on Friday night following assurance by the Chief Minister.
As reported in Herald Saturday, a meeting has been called within a fortnight to discuss the demands in detail even as the deal was to reinstate 17 workers and consider enhanced salary of Rs 21,000 per month from Rs 10,500.
