PANJIM: Social activists have urged Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar to stop allocating the Dayanand Bandodkar football ground for the Grape Escapade, an annual wine and lifestyle festival, for promotion, sale and consumption of alcohol.
In a petition to the chief minister, activist Sanjay Sarmalker and Rui Ferreira also demanded that two goal posts should be placed at the DB football ground which is owned by SAG.
Pointing that the North Goa District Magistrate has declared the stretch of 200 mtrs in front of military hospital, Campal as Silent Zone, the petitioners demanded a silent zone signboard at the place.
The activists have demanded that the state’s only football ground should not be privatized at any cost.
