PONDA: Labour leader and Shiv Sena activist Adv Ajitsing Rane has called upon the government to declare financial package of Rs 5 lakh to mine affected truck drivers before Ganesh festival, failing which he has threatened to lead a march of 5000 affected drivers to Goa Assembly under his party’s leadership.
Rane was addressing a large meeting of mine affected truck drivers at Dhareshwari Hall, Dharabandora, on Monday.
Further, he also demanded fifty percent of Rs five lakh be disbursed to mine dependent truck drivers before Ganesh.
Stating that mining industry is the backbone of the Goan Economy, Adv Rane said those who contributed to the Goan economy are now suffering after its closure.
Claiming that 9000 truck drivers have been affected by mining ban, Adv Rane exhorted them to stay united in their struggle for their demands.
Holding the BJP responsible for closure of mining resulting in the suffering of mine dependent families, he accused the government of giving false assurances to mine affected people.
Shiv Sena, Goa unit, chief Ramesh Naik warned the government that it would see the might of the truckers soon.
