CM urges public not to protest against projects in Mollem

Panjim: Stating that government is approachable and heeds to grievances of citizens on all the issues, the Chief Minister Pramod Sawant urged the public not to resort to any protest on the proposed projects in the Bhagwan Mahaveer Wildlife Sanctuary.

“There is no need for anyone to protest or come on street. We are ready to listen to people’s grievances. In fact, my Ministers and I are already listening to them,” said Sawant, while responding to the ongoing ‘Save Mollem’ protests.

“Whatever decisions that we are taking will be in the interest of the State and the Nation,” he added.

Sawant added that the agitations are being held when the government is not ready to listen to the people. “But here, we are listening to the people,” he said.

Referring to his meeting with Goencho Ekvott held on Tuesday, Sawant said that he heard their grievances and assured to hold another round of meeting in next 15-20 days.

“Until then, will hold talks with all the concerned stakeholders. Also told them to meet the concerned parties. We will come out with some conclusion” the Chief Minister stated.

Cutting across the party lines, MLAs from the ruling BJP and Congress has written letters to the Union Environment Minister Prakash Javadekar raising their concerns regarding the three infrastructure projects given clearance within Mollem National Park and Bhagwan Mahaveer Wildlife Sanctuary.

There has been public outcry across State opposing the three projects.
