CM vows action against gas dealers

Chief Minister Digambar Kamat on Wednesday committed in the House he would call both district collectors on Wednesday itself and ask him to call a meeting of gas dealers tomorrow to warn them of action if they indulged in malpractices and corruption.
Kamat, referring to a case pointed out by Siolim MLA Dayanand Mandrekar, said he was assuring the House gas dealers found playing the fool with the people will see their licenses terminated. He also warned of action against mamlatdars failing to act on complaints against the gas dealers.
Mandrekar brought to the notice of the House he had received a complaint against a gas dealer after which he brought it to the notice of the mamlatdar who put up his hands saying he couldn’t do anything.
Aldona MLA Dayanand Narvekar too supported Mandrekar on the issue and charged that gas dealers were working in a very high-handed manner in his constituency.
