MARGAO: Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar has said that the process of shifting all schools from Margao town would be finalised in the next four to five months and all schools would be given green signal to shift to the proposed land.
The chief minister was speaking after inaugurating the renovated facilities of Samaj Seva Sangh and Mahila Nutan English High School, Margao.
The school has renovated and modernised the fourth floor including library, computer lab and science laboratory; the new facilities have been funded and supported by Indoco Remedies Ltd.
On the occasion, ex-students Suresh Kare and Ramakrishna Keshav Naik were felicitated with lifetime achievement awards. The first 50 rank SSC holders in the school were also felicitated on the occasion.
After shifting all the schools from out of Margao town, schools from other town also would be shifted out, the chief minister said.
Meanwhile, Parsekar has urged the temples, religious institutions and trusts to adopt schools instead of spending money on jewelry and on gods.
Suresh Govind Kare, who was one of the felicitated with life time achievement award, said “Five years of my schooling in here were the best days of my students life. I enjoyed every moment of my life here and I would advise all to dedicate efforts for society.”
Others present on the occasion were Chairman of the Goa Education Development Council Shripad Patnekar, President of Samaj Seva Mandal Sudin Naik and Treasurer Sunil Naik.
