The Cuncolim Municipal Council (CMC) will get only two additional wards, and not three. The Directorate of Municipal Administration (DMA) published the new delimitation on its website on Monday, putting to rest the rumours of the thirteenth ward. CMC will now have twelve wards in total.
The two new wards are Talwada (ward 3) and Goulleacotto (ward 4). Talwada, which is ST dominated, will include parts of Buring, Takaband, Shimpler, Moddewada, Talwada and the power house. Goulleacotto will consist of parts of Gouleacotto, Takaband, Buring, Quegdicotto, Takaband, Masconi till Laxman Naik house.
There are no major changes in the any of the wards. Voters from parts of Takaband, Quegdicotto and Buring will be shifted to Veroda, Gouleacotto and Talwada wards. Panzorconi or Talwada are ST-dominated, and one of them will be reserved for the Scheduled Tribe (ST) community. Similarly, Vhoddi-Gothan, Demani, Gouleacotto and Comba-Paricotto are OBC-dominated wards; two of them may be reserved for the OBC community. Three of the wards as well as the chairperson’s post will be reserved for ladies.
With the municipal election scheduled for October 25, the reservation of wards will be declared soon. Some aspiring candidates have already started their campaign, while the rest are waiting until the reservation is declared.
Panzorconi (ward 1) consists of voters from Panzorconi, Payak Temple, Gaounkarwaddo, Comba central, and Poitomado. Veroda (ward 2) consists of parts of Veroda, Takaband, Buring, Quigdicotto, Bhatim, and Gavthan. Sanvorcotto (ward 5) consists of Sanvorcotto, Zoriwado and Sanvorcotto part 2. Comba-Paricotto (ward 6) consists of Carogem, Cottamol, Khorlem, Shiragem and Comba-Paricotto. Maddicotto (ward 7) consists of parts from Mileamwado, Bhekleawado, Morod and Maddicotto.
Demani (ward 8) consists of Demani, Marlaginnim, Payraband, Khorlem, Shirgem, Karojem, Soicrecotto and the Masjid locality. Bhiunsa (ward 9) consists of Bhiunsa, Juzegal, Pimpal Peda, Zoribhat and Naygillo. Dandora (ward 10), presently represented by CMC Chairperson Lendry Mascarenhas, consists of Dandora and Murida. Vhoddi-Guthon (ward 11) will consist of Vhoddi, Gothan, a part of Culwada, Cacnamoddi, Porbuswado, Mokim, Chamramoddi and one house from Bhiunsa. Culwada (ward 12) will include Culwada, Coprewada, Banekarawado, Nainem, Avalem and a part of Zoripot.
