CANACONA: With weathermen predicting monsoon to arrive in Canacona in the second week of June, civic agencies are working on a war-footing to implement preventive steps to ensure all the ten wards are spared of flooding and water logging.
Extra labourers are seen cleaning and desilting gutters and drains in various wards of Canacona municipality since last few days in preparation for the oncoming monsoon season.
Canacona Municipal Council Chairperson Nitu Sameer Desai said that most of the pre-monsoon work like cleaning gutters and drains is nearly complete and there should not be any water logging in all the 10 wards of the municipality.
The municipality has also identified spots prone to flooding and water logging and are taking extra measures. “We are focusing on these spots. All efforts are being made to make this year’s monsoon hassle-free,” Mrs Desai said.
