CMP an effort to hoodwink the people: Congress

Questions CMP silence on zero-tolerance to corruption, intolerance and beef ban controversy

PANJIM: Terming the much-hyped Common Minimum Program (CMP) as a ‘tom-tom’ exercise of the BJP-led coalition government, the Congress on Monday said the document reflects the “directionless tendency” of the government and is meant to “hoodwink” the public.
Addressing media persons hours after Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar released the CMP with a promise ‘sabka sath sabka vikas with Goemkarpon’, Congress General Secretary Adv Yatish Naik said the document is nothing beyond a ‘cut-copy-paste’ effort of BJP’s 2012 election manifesto.
“The promises BJP made during 2012 election manifesto, are seen repeated in the CMP. The repeated promises are nothing but self admission of the failure of the then BJP government,” Naik said pointing at the promises like making Goa garbage free, rehabilitation of slums, shifting of off shore casinos, speedy disposal of tenancy cases, housing for all, employment creation and tourism policy – all that has been reflected in the 2012 election manifesto and CMP.
“CMP is a ‘hack’ document. It is a tom-tom exercise undertaken without any direction and vision,” Naik commented further.
