CM’s illness has not affected government functioning, says Union Minister

Urges state ministers against indulging in verbal spat, but raise the issues with CM and sort them out

PANJIM: Union Minister and senior BJP leader Shripad Naik on Saturday said that Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar’s illness has not impacted functioning of the government, though he may not be able to give the required time.
Speaking to media persons on the sidelines of the Republic Day event, Naik also urged State Cabinet Ministers to restrain themselves from indulging in verbal spat but to raise the issues with Chief Minister and sort them out.
“I agree Chief Minister has not been able to give enough time to his work but he has ensured that his illness has no impact on the State functioning. Everything is working smoothly,” Naik said.
Parrikar has been suffering from pancreatic cancer since almost one year.
Referring to the recent incident of verbal spat between PWD Minister Ramkrishna (Sudin) Dhavalikar and Minister for Tribal Welfare Govind Gaude during the cabinet meeting, Naik said that such incidents are unfortunate.
“I was not present for the cabinet meeting and hence I don’t know what exactly happened. But through media reports, whatever we have learnt is very unfortunate,” he said.
“I would request the cabinet ministers to restrain themselves from being part of such things, which not only project the government in wrong taste, but also them as individual leaders,” he said.
Naik said that Ministers need to discuss with Chief Minister their issues and get it resolved.
