PANJIM: Following the increase in fatality rate due to COVID-19 pandemic, Health Minister Vishwajit Rane said co-morbidities cannot be used as an excuse for mortalities.
Addressing a web-press conference, Rane appealed to the people of Goa not to panic as the government is doing its best to tackle the COVID situation.
“We are revamping our COVID hospital with additional experts with the support of Chief Minister and I know there is rise in fatalities and we are working in that direction how to control that,” he stated.
He added that co-morbidities cannot be used to justify deaths. “We cannot take as an excuse. We are trying to involve more experts in treating co-morbidities,” he stated further.
On the allegation of better treatment for VIPs, Rane said, “Every person will be given the same treatment as same protocol will be used for everyone.”
“We are not just giving paracetamol, there are other drugs like Remdesivir. We are using the standardised SOP of All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi,” he said.
