PANJIM: Cooperation Minister Subhash Shirodkar on Monday said that efforts are on to refund deposits of depositors and recover loan dues from customers of three credit co-operative societies by December this year.
The three cooperative societies are Mashel Mahila Co-operative Credit Society, Ashtagandha Co-operative Credit Society, Bicholim and Visionaries Co-operative Credit Society from Loutolim.
“We will find out their assets and dispose them off if possible,” Shirodkar told reporters.
He said that criminal cases have been filed against those involved in bogus loan rackets. He further informed that so far 40 persons involved in co-operative sector, and who were involved in such misappropriation of funds have been permanently disqualified by the Registrar of Co-operative Societies.
The Minister also announced Goa State Co-operative Awards. Premanand Chawdikar will be awarded Goa Sahakar Ratna; Sattu alias Satish B Velip Goa Sahakar Bhushan and Jaiwant Adpaikar of Adpai-Ponda will be given Goa Sahakar Shree award.
The five-member selection committee has also selected Ulhas Fal Dessai of West Quepem VKSS Society Ltd, Balli-Quepem and Chandrakshekar S Chari of Shree Rasthtroli Dudh Utpadak Saunstha, Sal-Bicholim in the Assistance to Individual category.
The Sattari Multipurpose Co-operative Society Ltd has been considered for the Best Society of the Year, while Kurdi Vividh Karyakari Sahakari Seva Society Ltd, Curdi-Vaddem, Sanguem and the Goa Port and Dock Employees Co-operative Credit Society Ltd will be awarded consolation awards in the Best Co-operative Society category.
The awards will be presented to the winners at a function to be held at the Goa State Co-operative Bank conference hall, Sahakar Sankul, Patto-Panjim at 4:30 pm on Wednesday, February 28.
