VASCO: India Bloc South Goa candidate Capt Viriato Fernandes alleged that the Prime Minister Narendra Modi failed to fulfil his promise of bringing black money stashed in Swiss bank and instead he brought “black coal” into the country.
Addressing a meeting in Cortalim constituency, Capt Viriato said that Modi failed to bring money and also failed to deposit Rs 15 lakh in the banks account of every voter in in the country. Instead the BJP government imported coal into the country. “Coal transportation in the port town has affected the environment and the health of the residents,” he said.
Capt Viriato also cautioned people about some of the anti-people policies of the Centre, like the nationalisation of six of Goa rivers and implementation of the Major Port Authority Act.
Viriato further pointed out that the BJP government had failed to provide employment opportunities to the educated unemployed youth and added that the unemployment rate in Goa was highest in the country, as per information provided by Niti Aayog, which the government chose to discredit instead.
The meeting was addressed by Leader of the Opposition Yuri Alemao, Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) President Amit Patkar, former Minister Alina Saldanha, Congress leader Olencio Simoes and others.
