VASCO: Indian Coast Guard rescued nine fishermen after their fishing boat drifted north-west off the Vasco coast.

According to a press note, the Indian Coast Guard ship ‘Samrat’ was patrolling on Monday when it intercepted a distress call stating that an unknown fishing boat began to drift to a mechanical failure.

“The India Naval Ship ‘Nashak’, which was near the fishing vessel, responded to the distress call and towed the fishing boat off the Ratnagiri coast,” states the press note.

The press note further stated that the Coast Guard took over the fishing boat from the naval ship and towed it along with the crew to the harbour and handed it over to the owner for necessary action.
