Cobra caught at Margao
HERALD REPORTER
MARGAO, JUNE 30
A Nagina (female cobra) was caught at the crowded Pimpalkatta area in the heart of the city here on Tuesday morning.
The 18 inch female cobra was spotted by a hawker as it was moving on the newly laid pavers. He immediately alerted the people around, who in turn called a snake catcher.
A trained snake catcher, Dilip Naik later caught the nagina with the help of a stick.
The snake was later placed in a glass jar.
Naik disclosed that the snake will be handed over to forest officials.
The presence of the Nagina at the bustling Pimpalkatta came as a surprise to traders and citizens alike and it is suspected that the snake might have found its way to the Pimpalkatta through the plants and saplings brought in the area for sale.
