PANJIM: Goa Public Service Commission (GPSC) has informed that the election model code of conduct, which has come into force, will have no impact on the recruitment process initiated by the commission.
The Commission will undertake Computer Based Recruitment Test (CBRT) on March 17, of five posts- Assistant Professor (two posts) in Commerce in government College and Directorate of Higher Education, Assistant Professor in Fine Arts in Goa College of Art, Statistical Officer in the Directorate of Planning, Statistics and Evaluation and Assistant Pharmaceutical Chemist in Institute of Psychiatry and Human Behaviour.
Also, the interviews for the post of forensic science and professor in tabla will also take place as per the schedule.
GPSC chairman Jose Manuel Noronha said that model code of conduct does not apply to the commission being a statutory authority.
As per the Election Commission of India (ECI) circular with regards to enforcement of model code of conduct, it is been stated that “regular recruitment/ appointment or promotion through the UPSC, State Public Service Commission or the Staff Selection Commission or any other statutory authority can continue”.
“Recruitments through non-statutory bodies will require prior clearance of the ECI,” the commission noted further.
Noronha said that the GPSC process for post advertisements, examinations and interviews and departmental promotion committee meetings will continue and will make recommendations to the government. “But, the government will not be able to issue any order till the time code is in force,” he said.
Nearly two and half month long election code has come into force from March 10 with declaration of Lok Sabha and State assembly by-elections, which will be held on April 23.
