VASCO: The Legal Metrology Department, Margao Unit seized coffee packages and coffee making machines worth Rs 65 lakh from a unit located at Verna Industrial Estate for not bearing the mandatory declaration.
In the press release the Assistant Controller, Legal Metrology, South Zone-I, Margao, Goa, said the items were seized based on customer complaint regarding packages sold on an e-commerce platform and the advertisement on a social media site.
In all 11,800 coffee packages and 16 coffee making packages, both imported, worth Rs 65 lakh were seized by the Department for violation of mandatory declaration as required under Legal Metrology Act, 2009 read with Legal Metrology (Packaged Commodities) Rules, 2011.
The packages did not bear the month and year of import, customer care details of the person/office, in case of consumer complaints.
